We loved talking with you!
Thank you to everyone who attended our curriculum sessions in the movement room. What a great turnout! We love bragging explaining to you about our program! It was so fun getting to chat with so many of you about your ideas and concerns.

The Garden Community Cares About The Earth
Our opening circle song says “to take good care of the earth” and what better way to do that than to keep plastic film from her soil. The Children’s Garden school is hosting a plastic film drive from now until November 1!

The Mousehole
Well, we charged onto the playground on Monday to look for the salmon that Larry had brought us from the hatchery, and lo and behold, it was completely gone! The kids guessed that a bear had eaten the salmon, but Brook told us that one of their cameras onsite caught a coyote going up and down the driveway. So fun to follow the clues and try to solve the mystery!
We had wonderful curriculum sessions during each class and are so fortunate to have such a supportive community and staff that can cover for us as we pulled two teachers out of each class to meet with you.
The staff had a warm and wonderful autumnal gathering of our extended Children’s Garden staff members, a gathering which we look forward to and delight in, three or four times a year. We are so blessed to be a part of this legendary program. In nearly 50 years, we have only had 5 full time teachers. That is bragging rights, folks, and we love each other dearly. We all have the same love of our students, respect for our founder and her direction, and absolute passion for our program. We love gathering to celebrate our love for each other!
Next week, we have our one-on-one zoom check-ins, and we are looking forward to chatting with each of you about your student and discuss how we are all adjusting to the routines of the school year.
Read on for class news:
The Ladybugs had such a sweet class on Tuesday, we welcomed a new Ladybug to our group, Lily, as well as her parents, Marlis and Lazaro. Say “Hi” next time you see them! We had Emily and Brin helping us out, so that Cara and Donna could do our curriculum session. We started learning the fun poem, “5 Little Pumpkins”, and sang songs, did finger plays and read some books with the same words.
We started a sweet little leaf project to decorate our classroom and started working on our “Open Shut Them” mini book.
The teachers are looking forward to chatting with each of you next week during our ‘check-ins’ and having a ball with y’all at the Carpinito Farm Fun Yard on Friday!
The Crickets were so excited to run onto the playground on Monday to look for Larry’s salmon! We couldn’t find it anywhere! It was fun to watch the kiddos enter the playground ‘differently’ as they knew that their parents were in the movement room. We had a lot more ‘curiosity’ with kids wanting to wash their hands, use the potty in Brin’s office, etc., just so they could peek in the window of the movement room to see what exactly you guys were doing in there!
We gathered leaves from the playground and sorted them into Large, Medium and Small. The Crickets also started a beautiful leaf stamping project to decorate our classroom.
The teachers are looking forward to chatting with each of you next week during our ‘check-ins’ and having a ball with y’all at the Carpinito Farm Fun Yard on Friday!
The Honeybees learned about the letter “T” and used our Mat Man pieces to form the letter T, and also used play dough to form some Ts. We then added our ts to our “a”s, and made ‘at’ books. At circle, we sounded out several words on the white board, and had the kids raise a “quiet hand” to take turns sounding out and reading those words. Our flip books show the ending ‘at’ with several different starting letters, rat, mat, sat, bat, etc. have your child ‘read’ their flip book to you.
We continued to work on our guided salmon drawing art piece for our Spring Art Show and started a beautiful leaf stamping project to decorate our classroom.
The teachers are looking forward to chatting with each of you next week during our ‘check-ins’ and having a ball with y’all at the Carpinito Farm Fun Yard on Friday!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Gratitude Corner
Donna would love to say thank you so much for all the wonderful birthday wishes and gifts and cards and flowers! You guys all made me cry with that “Grandma” sweatshirt! I’ve been wearing it with such pride all week, saying, “All my Garden families got me this!” You guys are the best and, next to your kids, THE reason why I love my job so much – not the gifts, but the thoughtfulness, the kindness and the love that you all share. Thank you immensely. You warm my heart.
Much appreciation to our Honeybee parents who organized and joined a work party shoveling and hauling sand to top off our sandbox. What a thrill for our Honeybees to help out!
A special thank you to Honeybee Lowen’s dad Chad Nancarrow for loading up the extra sand into his truck and hauling it away.
