The Mousehole

Wishing a joyful and serene Eid to all who celebrated! We are helping out the bunny this afternoon getting ready for our Spring Egg Hunt, tomorrow at 10! We love that there are so many celebrations around the world of spring, new growth, and new life. We hope you will join us as we celebrate them all!

With lots of special events coming up, Spring Break travel plans and visiting grandparents, we ask that everyone stays on top of colds, viruses and other bugs going around. Please keep your Gardener home if they have a fever, green nasal discharge, or are showing lethargy. We’d hate for anyone to have to change their plans!

We had a fun week at The Garden, as the gazebo was all decked out to set the mood for our auction coming up on May 2nd! We can’t wait! We’ve had a sneak peak at the items up for bid and can’t wait to don our and derby hats and outfits to have a fun evening celebrating this amazing little school!

We also made a trip down to Carpinito Brothers to get some pretty colorful annuals to plant around the campus. Thank you to all who helped their child choose a pansy or two and plant it in the courtyard, garden, down the driveway, playground or on the way up to Luna’s Forest.

Ladybugs
Well, April Fools’ Day played tricks on us! The children who are typically comfortable and confident, entered the classroom a little tentatively on Tuesday and those that are typically shy, came in to the classroom, raring to go! Everyone was fine after about 10 or 15 minutes.

We have been having fun learning and practicing our dances for the Art Show and can’t wait for you to see the adorable Egg Hunt decorations that our little Ladybugs worked on.

Hope to see you all tomorrow morning at 10 AM.

Crickets
What wonderful little actors we have in our Cricket class! We kicked off the week acting out “Henny Penny” or “Chicken Little”, where everyone had the opportunity to play a role in this fun folk tale that ends in the fox’s den. We started working on our Art Show dances and started our final project to be displayed at the Art Show also.

Honeybees
We had our first reports on Monday and went to Canada and Mexico. We started our self portraits for the Spring Art Show and began learning and practicing new dances. We are learning lower case letters and we took turns going to the office to be interviewed by Brin for our ‘About the Artist’ biographies for the Art Show.

On Tuesday, we went to Italy and Guatemala and painted with vegetables. We did our April calendars and started working on our full body drawings for the Art Show.

We have turned a lot of our attention to the Art Show. It’s Friday, April 25th at Grand Ridge Elementary School. It’s one of our all time favorite special events of the school year where we get to show you all the amazing things that these kiddos have worked on all through the school year. Not only are beautiful visual works of art on display, but the dances that the Bees do are very impressive also!

We played Spill the Beans with 6 beans this week and learned all the different ways that numbers can add up to make 6. On Thursday, we went up to the forest to play and explore and to rope off some of the hunting grounds for the Egg Hunt on Saturday. We also planted some of the pretty pansies and violets along the pathway up to the tree circle.

We went to Greece, Chile, Egypt and Portugal the rest of the week. We love our World Culture reports as we get to learn about people and places all around the globe.

Have a great weekend everyone! Hope to see you all at the Egg Hunt tomorrow at 10 am!

Gratitude Corner

We want to thank our dear friend and Honeybee Mom, Jazz Walton, for all that she does for our little school. Jazz and her husband, Tommy, have been working together to make the videos for our fundraising events and adventures since Covid forced us to have our first online “Fund a Need” in 2020. The heart and humor, love and attention to detail that is put into each reel, each cel, is way beyond anything that we would ever think is possible. Jazz works closely with the auction committee, finding out the theme, the items up for bid, and immediately recognizes the heart and soul of the ‘ask’ and how to bring that to life.

Last week, the staff had a blast with Jazz as she filmed us for an auction video. She took all of her reels home to edit and work her magic. We laughed so hard while filming that we cried, and we can’t wait to watch it on auction night with all of you, after she pieces it all together not only to make sense, but to make magic. Thank you, Jazz! For all your time, energy, ideas and understanding of the heart and soul of The Garden!

We love and appreciate you!
