Work Party Gazette

Saturday, September 7
9am-12pm

We ask one adult from each household join us at the school and help get our campus ready for the new year. This is an adult only event with tools and heavy equipment.

We have a good supply of tools and could always use more on work party day. Join in on one of the following areas

  • Painting: wear appropriate clothes. We could use some scrapers if you have them to share.
  • Weeding: Gloves, pruners, shovels, loppers and wheel barrels are always in need on work party day
  • Handy: If you know your way around heavy work tools we have some bigger jobs for you. Feel free to bring your any hand tools and cordless tools that you are comfortable using.

We’ll end the day off with a beer and hot dog lunch.

The Mousehole

Are you all ready? We are! The staff had a wonderful 3-day in-house retreat over the summer to discuss and plan the curriculum, changes to the classroom and the playground, and all of your wonderful children. We have also been here all this past week, hanging class lists, putting names on cubbies and hooks, organizing school supplies, setting up binders, printing out materials and generally getting excited about our first days of classes next week! We can’t wait to see all of our returning families and welcome our new families.

We had a wonderful New Parent Luncheon yesterday and are excited about the year ahead. What a great community we have!

We hope to see one adult from each family at our work party tomorrow from 9-Noon. Bring your hand tools, shovels, rakes, garden gloves, garden clippers, etc. We will be doing some minor repairs on the playground, spreading fresh sand in our sandbox and beautifying our courtyard by weeding and trimming the overgrown shrubs and weeds. We love to show the kids on their first day of class the amazing job that their grown-ups did to get the school ready for them! It’s a wonderful time to catch up with old friends that we haven’t seen over the summer and meet new friends that are just joining our program.

Next Friday is our wonderful “Apple Fest”! Every current school family is invited and last year’s alums as well, to join us for this family favorite – pot luck, cider pressing and fabulous sing along!

Every Friday, make sure you check out this “Garden Gazette” as it has all the details and links that you need to participate and enjoy all of the goings on throughout the school year at The Children’s Garden, as well as this weekly “From the Mousehole” where we catch up with all that went on in the classroom during the week.

We are off to a great start! What a wonderful year it is going to be!
