…And…we’re off! Monday, our Honeybee class of 2025 had a fabulous fun day on the playground, digging into our newly filled sandbox, swinging with old friends on the tire swing, and making new friends as they hunted together for ‘treasure’, beautiful, polished rocks, and mixed-up masterpieces worthy of a chef’s kiss at the mud kitchen. We talked about the letter, “A”, completed our September calendars, and did a classic Honeybee circle, where we each say our name, how we are feeling, and turn to our neighbor to ask how our neighbor is feeling. On Tuesday, we started learning some songs for our sing-along at the Apple Fest tonight, as well as starting a ‘birthday book’ for our friend Claire. Emily led a fun circle showing the kids some new shapes to use to draw our faces. Instead of a circle for a head, try using an oval. Instead of dots for eyes, let’s frame them with rainbows and circles around the dots, and instead of a line for a smile, try drawing two lips. Check out their first efforts on the movement room mirror.
On Tuesday, our little Ladybug class got started with a meet and greet session with the teachers. We painted our Belleamie on a stick and played with scented playdough, making apples and using scissors and rolling pins. A quick time out on the playground to enjoy the pretty fall day, and then our first closing circle. Thursday was our first day for the Bugs to say goodbye to their parents and have fun with their teachers. We had a few tears, but the morning went quickly, and the children enjoyed exploring every nook and cranny of the classroom.
Wednesday morning was our first Cricket class of the year, and it is so fun to see how much these Gardeners have grown!
Tonight is the Apple Festival! What a fun way to kick off the school year! Hope to see you all on the playground! Potluck, Sing-along, and Meet and Greet with old friends and new.
Next week, our friend Cara will be back at The Garden!
We are off to a great start! What a wonderful year it is going to be!
Gratitude Corner
Thank you to the parents who came out with their tools, their sleeves rolled up, and their ‘can-do’ attitudes last Saturday morning, and helped us get the playground and classroom ready for our first week of school. Thank you to Brook and Mick, and Erin Carpinito for all the work that they did over the summer and in preparation for our Work Party. The staff loves to show the kids all the work that their loved ones did to make their school safe and ready for them.
