The Mousehole
Our final full week of school is complete and we set our sights on our final closing circles and next year’s curriculum!
Closing circles are the last 10-15 minutes of each class this next week, and we welcome you to join us. We have prepared a short video presentation for each class’ closing circle and love to share this special closure time with you all.
Although we say goodbye to you all for the summer in the next few days, the staff gets right to work, setting the dates on the calendar for special events and breaks for the 25-26 school year, and honing our curriculum after looking at the results of this year’s themes and projects.
We love to take this time after closing circles to review the year while it is fresh and start to tweak it right away. Emily starts right in leading Camp Tree Circle and we organize, file, clean out, sort and purge the year’s lessons and files, toys and learning materials.
This year, we have an especially special treat, a staff appreciation dinner to look forward to, thanks to all of you. We are excited to have our fine dining night at Marissa Wain’s house, with her sous chefs, Yuri and Mary. Thank you to our parent community for this amazing ‘fund a need’ item. We are so appreciative, and so touched. Thank you also for the beautiful toaster oven/ air fryer for our staff kitchen! We’ve already used it to warm up our lunches and look forward to several Shrinky Dink projects in the future! :0)
Thanks for everything, as always, and have a great weekend! 3,2, and 1 session to go!
Ladybugs –
Our Ladybugs finished up our Dad’s Day gifts and our “All About My Ladybug Year at Preschool” papers. We celebrated Hazel’s birthday and we made some adorable cricket necklaces to celebrate our next step in our educational journey. We learned a song about Crickets and practiced standing to do some solo singing of the Cricket song. How fun to see these kiddos soar!
Crickets –
Lillian celebrated her 5th trip around the sun this week for her July birthday, and we completed our Dad’s Day gifts, and our “All About My Cricket Year at Preschool” papers. We made some adorable Honeybee necklaces to celebrate our next step in our educational journey and we learned a poem about Honeybees and practiced standing to do some solo recitations. How monumental!
Honeybees –
We made necklaces to honor the mascots of our next step in our educational journey, and had a great time reading Cowboy stories and tall tales! Listening to the Bees’ cowboy names was a real hoot and we can’t wait to use ‘em tonight at the Honeybee Roundup at the Okie Dokie Corral!
We finished up our Dad’s Day gifts and completed our “All About My Honeybee Year at Preschool” pages. We had some more fun creek time and recorded some wonderful footage for our closing circle and for our graduation. Bring your tissues! You are going to be so moved (as are we!) with the growth of these Bees!
Gratitude Corner
There are people who do their jobs well — and then there are those rare few who infuse every part of their work with heart, purpose, and a little bit of magic. Donna is, without a doubt, one of those rare few.
For decades Donna has been a steady, loving presence at The Children’s Garden — a teacher who meets each child with a twinkle in her eye, and knows how to connect through humor, play and her irrepressible childlike spirit, endearing herself to children and parents alike, bringing out the best in everyone around her. Donna is a creative engine-continuously coming up with whimsical and often hilarious ideas. And she is a woman of actin! She knows how to get things done! Her creative mind is always working!
Donna’s words have become a treasured thread that ties our school community together through the weekly Mousehole and countless appreciations. Her messages bring warmth and a sense of connection that have been gifts to families and staff alike. She speaks not just as a communicator, but as a storyteller, weaving together the heart of our school week after week.
Donna, thank you for holding the heart of The Garden. Your dedication, magic, and your love for this work are felt in every corner of our sweet school. You inspire us all and we are so very lucky to walk alongside you.
With all our admiration and gratitude,
