The Mousehole
Brr! Another cold week! But! What a fun and eventful one!
We celebrated a few birthdays, Groundhog Day and the Lunar New Year! We had so much fun wearing our lucky colors, making our potato groundhogs and watching our friends circle around the sun for their birthday circles.
The Children’s Garden hosted a wonderful open house last Friday and welcomed 10+ families to our campus to tour the grounds and hear about our program. Almost everyone that attended was eager to apply for enrollment. Thank you again for all your referrals. We are so appreciative of our community.
It’s been a wonderful week here at The Garden. We did a lot of activities that were specifically for this week. We did a lot of activities that were specifically gearing up for Valentine’s Day, and we did a lot of activities that were just catching up since our winter break, for a lot of students that were travelling or away from class for a few weeks.
This weekend, our staff heads over towards Hood Canal, to spend a few days as a team at Cari’s family cabin. We will be looking at how the year has been going so far, we will begin to plan our conferences coming up in a few months, looking forward to the curriculum and special events for the remainder of the school year, assessing our program to adjust how things are going and what we need to do to change for the remainder of the year, but most importantly, we are going to have a wonderful 48 hours, bonding, laughing, and loving our coworkers. We are all in this job for the same reason, and a side perk is that we all love spending time with each other. We love to talk about our common goals, dreams and plans, and we love to talk about how fortunate we are to have such an amazing program to come together on.
Thank you to our community for such an amazing privilege to work with your children and thank you for the opportunity to retreat and conference together about our amazing program, wonderful play based curriculum and to giggle and also tear up about our sweet students. We are so blessed!
Have a great weekend everyone, and hello February!
Gung Hay Fat Choy!
Ladybugs
We had a fun week in the Ladybug class, learning how to use chopsticks to eat our ramen noodles and making our beautiful Lunar New Year lanterns. Wasn’t our parade pretty? We sure do love celebrating every festival and tradition!
Lukas turned 3 on Wednesday and we celebrated his third trip around the sun on Tuesday. Next week, we begin to make our Valentine’s decorations and turn our attention to “Love”.
Crickets
We had some big sibling big kid helpers on Monday, and celebrated Lily’s birthday circle. We all made beautiful Chinese New Year lanterns for our parade on Wednesday, and started our Valentine’s décor and working on our letter of the week: Q.
Honeybees
The Bees had another busy week, learning our Groundhog poem, making our Groundhog potatoes, and celebrating Lunar New Year!
We learned our letters of the week, V an R, and wrote by sounding out, who we love. We had fun writing all by ourselves, “I LOVE YOU”, and made some beautiful Chinese New Year lanterns to use for our parade on Thursday. We loved using chopsticks to pick up mandarin oranges and ramen noodles, and we listened to one of our favorites, Ella Jenkins, who took us on a musical trip to China.
We made some adorable potato groundhogs and we each decided which greeting to put with our groundhogs. We all loved acting out our groundhog poem and began making some beautiful birthday book pages for our friends, Maddy and Julius, who celebrate half birthdays next week.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Gratitude Corner
As the staff is in the middle of our in-service days, curriculum planning and overall review of our program and how it is working this year, we want to express our gratitude for you parents and guardians of our students. We so appreciate that you entrust your most valuable treasures to our care, and we absolutely love working with all our families. We are indeed a village and get ‘juiced’ when we work as a team to help our Gardeners grow. It is a fact that we just couldn’t do this without you, and we look forward to working with you for the remainder of your time at The Garden and beyond. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
