Garden Staff Summer Recap

We hope all our families are enjoying a wonderful summer! We sure are, included everything from grand adventures to relaxed sunny days.

We are all excited to get back to school and can’t wait to see you all at the new parent luncheon, work party and/or first days of school.

Read on to see how the Garden Staff are spending their summer.

Donna

Donna’s summer started off with a bang as we adopted an 8 week old German Shorthaired Pointer puppy! All summer projects were immediately put off until next year! John and I took a road trip to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks with a couple of John’s kids and his two grandkids. We hosted two ‘Catch and Release’ fishing nights at our home and I’m having a blast with staff as we plan our Auction item, ‘Rustic FrenchDinner’ for later in August.
I am also very excitedly adding a crib and changing table to the guest room as my first grandchild is due the end of October!
Can’t wait to see all of our Gardeners in September!

The rarely still Cara fairy, rests as little giggling fairies gather to wake her.

Bongiorno!    I am writing to you all now from Italy.   My husband and I are on our dream adventure to Italy for 3 weeks   We are attending the wedding of a dear friend of ours in Florence.  I have had a non stop summer of travels, camping and home improvement projects.  I was spoiled at the Farm to Table dinner that the staff won at the Auction and then spoiled some of you at the Staff Dinner from the Auction.   My older son Josh and his girlfriend Tulip took us sailing and we visited my younger son Luka and his girlfriend Aranza in San Diego.

I have also been going through a very painful time in my life.  My older sister – Helen – has battled many health challenges in her life.  She found out she had leukemia in January and passed away August 25th.  My heart is so sad but I know she is at peace and is no longer in pain.   Life sure has its ups and downs.

I am really looking forward to seeing all of your kiddos who I love dearly.   The Children’s Garden is my happy place and I am so blessed to be a part of this loving and supportive community.

Brook

What a fun summer! We have had a lovely mix of busy activities, adventures, and quality time with family and friends. A few highlights were going to a family arts camp with both my children and my parents, sharing the circus with so many friends and family by hosting Up,Up,Up at our house for a wonderful show, and reconnecting with friends I first met as a student at the Children’s Garden! Mick and I have also been busy working on house projects and getting out to the mountains as much as possible! It’s amazing how quickly the summer has flown by! I look forward to seeing my school friends soon!

Cari

Loving summer!  Our house has been full of activity having all of our kids home and one of the highlights is Mark and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary!  Hope everyone is having a great summer!  I’m looking forward to seeing you all and the start of the new school year!!

Emily

I hope everyone’s summer is going well! This summer I’ve been enjoying more social time with friends, hiking, playing in the creek with my doggo, Ravioli, and taking naps in my hammock. It’s been a great time to recharge my battery and get ready for the next school year. My sisters moved to Seattle, from LA and Boca Raton this month, and I could not be happier to show them around the city and have them close by! I’m fitting in several camping trips in August and looking forward to exploring the San Juan Islands soon. I can’t wait to reunite with the best teachers ever and get to know the new Honeybee class!

Brin

My summer has been an amazing mix of lazy days, home projects and car adventures.

Some glorious days of rest and relaxation gave the much needed energy to take a deep dive into organizing some home spaces. From craft room to closets to pantry, these spaces are refreshed.

My husband and I had many an adventure as we took our vintage cars from Portland, OR to BC, Canada and a few stops in between, to shows, races and long beautiful drives on back roads.

Gratitude Corner

We are so grateful for the opportunities we had to build community over the summer! From our 4th of July parade to playdates to wonderful summer events that were auction items, such as Farm to Table Dinner, Pirate Day, Staff Dinner and Fly Fishing to name a few. Thank you to our room parents for organizing class play dates and thank you to everyone who joined in the fun!
