The Mousehole
Welcome back to school after a glorious spring break! Hope everyone had a wonderful time with family and friends, relaxing or adventuring, whichever you chose. We are back in full swing at The Garden with many special events in the next few weeks! Art Show tonight, Auction next week, followed by our beautiful Butterfly Teas.
We celebrated Earth Day this week as well as wrapped up our Honeybee World Culture Reports with our “World’s Fair”, and made beautiful butterflies to send home invitations to the Butterfly Tea Parties. We put the finishing touches on our Art Show projects and dances and can’t wait to share it all with you this evening.
The Auction catalog is live this weekend and we are so thrilled to start to build the excitement leading up to this fun night on May 2nd. Look through the catalog, start building your bidding teams on big events, decide who is the bidder and what your top amount will be, and have so much fun, as you plan and plot your conquests at the auction! We hope you all have a lovely Derby hat or seer sucker suit to wear to next weekend’s auction! (Whatever you wear will be perfect!) As long as you guys have fun, the night is going to be a smashing success!
We are at a time in the school year where we are super appreciative of all that our room parents have done and are doing for our classes! We are looking at room parents for next year and wondering if any of the current volunteers would like to continue or if they have ideas of who would be a good go-between for the 25-26 school year. Let us know if you are interested!
It’s an exciting time at The Garden, and we are so enjoying sharing it all with you.
Ladybugs
How fun to have the Bugs return after Spring Break. Everyone was so much more chatty and excited to share their news about their events and adventures from the past week. We love to see the friendships that have developed, the ‘checking in’ when a classmate has some tears or owies, and how much sharing and turn taking is going on. These kiddos are turning into Crickets right before our eyes!
Emily was with us this week as Cara was spending some lovely time with her family, and we love how the comfort level with the entire Garden staff grows from the very beginning of the school year for these little ones, as we are so lucky to have a great staff and wonderful substitutes to cover for each other as life’s events and opportunities arise.
We made a new peek a boo book, “Rain, Rain, Go Away”, and took turns at circle practicing our ‘solo’ recitations of favorite songs and poems from the year, as we prepare for our Butterfly Tea. We don’t put a lot of focus on this exercise, but rather, sing a song as a group and then ask ‘Would anyone like to sing that in the microphone?’, and we have lots of volunteers. It is fun to seize the opportunity to help them build their confidence and joy of sharing what they know.
We made some beautiful butterflies to decorate our Butterfly Tea invitations that we hope you enjoy.
Crickets
Oh boy! These Crickets are so fun! We celebrated Quentin’s birthday on Monday, and made some beautiful butterflies to decorate our Butterfly Tea invitations that we hope you enjoy!
We put the finishing touches on our art projects and dances for tonight’s Art Show, and we practiced singing some songs into the microphone as we begin preparations for the beautiful Butterfly Tea Party that is coming up in a little over a week.
We are so fortunate to have a wonderful staff and wonderful substitutes to help our classes flow so smoothly. Cara had some lovely time with her family and Emily and Cari subbed for her this past week. It is so sweet to continue the bonding with all staff members that the children have throughout their three years here at The Garden.
Honeybees
What a fun and eventful week we had in our Honeybee class! We learned a second dance to perform at the Art Show, and, not to brag, but these kids are amazingly fast at picking up new dance steps! We are very proud, and we know that you are going to be impressed with their performances this evening!
Wednesday was a big day for us as we celebrated Maya’s birthday circle and enjoyed the World’s Fair! What an amazing accomplishment for everyone to have presented their report to their peers and now, stand proudly in front of their boards, to share to the Honeybee parents and grownups. How proud we are of all of our Bees! The next time the children are asked to do a report of this depth is in second or third grade, when we have repeatedly heard from alums that their teachers cannot believe that they did a similar report in their preschool!
The Honeybees made beautiful butterflies to connect to our invitations for Butterfly Tea, and we learned a new poem for the same special event. The new poem is very fun and has a focus on rhyming words. We started practicing reciting our poems with a microphone. Again, we are so thrilled with the self confidence and comfort level that has developed with these amazing children!
