Honeybee and Cricket
Holiday Night at Teacher Donna’s

Wednesday, December 18
5-7 pm

We will have an evening of feasting on pizzas, popping our own corn and watching some classic holiday movies. Each participant will come home with a sweet hand made ornament, and memories to last a lifetime! We invite the kiddos to come in their comfy jammies if they choose, so that when they return home, they are ready to climb into bed and dream of Belleamie,  sugar plum fairies and time spent with friends.

The Mousehole

It is hard to believe we are at the midpoint of November! With no school on Monday to honor our veterans, we had a short week in the classroom. Donna is back east visiting family, so we had Cari and Matt subbing for her, and we decorated the courtyard with beautiful water color leaves that represent lots of people and things that we are grateful for.

The Crickets and Honeybees are preparing for their Harvest Feasts next week, and all three classes began learning some new dances for the Winter Celebration on December 6th at Issaquah Middle School.

Read on for class news:

Ladybugs
The Bugs are having such fun in the classroom! We finished up our Teddy Bear Booklets and started working on our “Turkey is a Funny Bird” books. We learned a new song at circle time, called ‘Turkey and Duck’ and we started learning a new dance that we will perform at the Winter Celebration on December 6th at Issaquah Middle School. We can’t wait for you to watch them!

Crickets
Oh! These Crickets just can’t stop thinking of all the people and things that they are grateful for! It’s so fun to be present at the Gratitude Circles. The kids are doing a great job! Lily brought in the sound basket for the letter J, and we started reading some different versions of “Stone Soup” to get us in the mood for our Harvest Feast next Friday.

We made some fun “Turkey is a Funny Bird” peek a boo booklets and made some beautiful placemats for our feast that you will want to bring out every year at Thanksgiving.

We are preparing the students’ portfolios of classroom work to go home over the Thanksgiving break. The Crickets are learning two things to present at the Winter Celebration on December 6th at Issaquah Middle School. We can’t wait for you to watch them perform!

We celebrated Sloane’s birthday circle on Friday as she walked 4 times around the sun! Happy birthday Sloane!

Honeybees
We had a great week in the Honeybee class, thinking of all the people and things that we are grateful for. The Bees have heard several versions of the classic “Stone Soup” story to prepare for the Harvest Feast, next Thursday. The children should begin bringing in the ingredients to make the soup on Monday, as we will be preparing it on Wednesday to enjoy at their feast on Thursday.

We made some beautiful placemats for our Feast that you will want to bring out every year at this time to decorate your own Thanksgiving table. The kids worked with pattern blocks to make a turkey and design a pattern border of our own creation. We also decorated our beautiful Carpinito pumpkins for our centerpiece. In keeping with the theme, we also learned a fun new song called Albuquerque Turkey, and are learning “Harvest Feast Blessing” as our poem this week.

The letter of the week was “E” and we learned how to write “BEE” and also that vowel letters make two sounds each – the letter name and a short sound. We are preparing the students’ portfolios of classroom work to go home over the Thanksgiving break. The Honeybees are learning two complicated dances to present at the Winter Celebration on December 6th at Issaquah Middle School. We can’t wait for you to watch their exciting performances!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Gratitude Corner

Thank you to all our wonderful Cricket Moms Presley’s mom Katelyn, Madison’s mom Leah and Camden’s mom Jessica who came out to help us at our work party today! Additional thanks to Jessica for being one of our amazing Cricket room parents and organizing this work party and bringing the best doughnuts! One of our alum Dads designed and built our outdoor courtyard sink for us so that we could stay open during the pandemic and have a place for everyone to wash our hands without going indoors. What a wonderful gift this is to have! After almost 5 years of washing sandy and dirty hands, the drain was getting slow. Our Cricket moms emptied the rocks, cleaned out the big tub and refilled it with nice clean rocks. It’s ready to go! Thanks Moms! You guys are awesome!
