News, pictures and videos from the classrooms.
We hope you all had a lovely long weekend – the staff had some fun gathering and gardening, and just having an extra day to recharge for all the exciting events in these last two weeks of school. We look forward to celebrating with you all.
Read on for Class News.
Ladybugs
Oh, sweet Ladybugs! You really have grown and developed into Crickets! You are sharing, taking turns and using your words.
We worked on our Father’s Day presents and learned another nursery rhyme. We danced at circle and are learning a new dance for our final closing circle next week. We will be headed out to the playground around 10 am and we had so much fun visiting with you all on the day that you got the sand, we would love it if you could come and hang out with us again! We hope you can join us at the end of class next Thursday, to visit, make summer plans with each other and then to head into the movement room to see our little dance performance, and have a sweet final Ladybug closing circle. No need to change plans, we will do our dance right at pick up time.
Crickets
Our Crickets only had two days this week, and only two days next week! We made June calendars and finished our Father’s Day gifts. We finished up our study of the Three Little Pigs, and practiced our scissor grip and our pencil grip as we wrote our names in upper and lower case with a yellow brick road, and a fun game that we have with locks and keys of upper- and lower-case letter practice.
We worked on a new dance to have fun with on our last day of class, next Wednesday. We hope you can join us on the playground for the last 15-20 minutes of class next Wednesday, to visit, make summer plans with each other and then head into the movement room to see our little dance performance, and have a sweet final Cricket closing circle. No need to change plans, we will do our dance right at pick up time.
Honeybees
We had such a fun week with our Bees! Kicking off the week on Tuesday, we worked on our Father’s Day gifts, and practiced counting by 10’s some more, as well as worked on our upper- and lower-case letter usage. We continued to read some tall tales and finalized our Cowboy names! Hope you enjoy them!
We continued to do special activities and projects to prepare for our lovely graduation ceremony next Friday and made some fun videos and a ‘documentary’ to show at our Graduation Ceremony. We had some more alum big kid helpers visiting us during class time and answering questions about kindergarten – we welcomed Aadit on Tuesday and Owen and Iris on Wednesday.
On Thursday, we had our boot stompin’, rip roarin’, cowpoke Roundup at the Okie Dokie Corral! Holy Smokes! Such a fun hoedown! We had a scavenger hunt, a treasure hunt in the creek, did some special art projects and had some special cowpoke snacks! We hear that there was an after party complete with cookout, campfire and s’mores. Git Along Lil’ Doggies!
Our Bees graduate next Friday at 10 am. Please RSVP a head count to Brin if you haven’t already done so. Let us know if you have folding chairs that we could borrow for the ceremony.
Monday through Thursday classes will be as usual.
Have a great weekend!

We love our community and are so grateful and humbled by the support and love you so generously give! Thank you!
Alum Big Kid Helpers
We are so grateful for our alum big kid helpers who have come in throughout the year and especially these last few weeks to help out the teachers. We love to reconnect and catch up with them, and we love to have them at circle to answer our honeybee’s questions about the transition from Children’s Garden to Kindergarten. We so love keeping our graduates close, and our community constantly growing. Thank you alum big kid helpers!

The Garden Needs Your Help!
Here at the Children’s Garden we are so lucky to be a part of such a nurturing environment where our children are learning and growing every day, and our tireless teachers contribute their heart and souls. As parents and families of our students, we know that each one of you plays a vital part in weaving together the fabric of this community. We are pleased to be able to offer so many varied ways for you to join us in building these bonds together.
Today we want to announce that we are seeking a new Board Treasurer to join our Board of Directors’ leadership team in July of 2023. Every year, we have new board members join as others complete their service. This year, our dedicated Treasurer is moving on, and it is crucial that we find someone to fill this very important role for our community.
The key activities of the Treasurer include:
- Work with Brin and our bookkeeper every month (about mid-month) to produce monthly reports/analysis to the board;
- Lead the annual budgeting process between February and June;
- Provide insight and guidance to the Board throughout your term as we work through strategic assessments and decisions about program and policies.
The ideal Treasurer has bookkeeping and accounting experience, proficiency with accounting software and Excel, and is a detailed and accurate project manager. They can investigate and analyze specifics as well as link it to the bigger picture for the larger leadership team.
This is an open call to our community and we are very much looking forward to hearing from you and brainstorming or answering your questions.
Board service is so much more than the donation of your time and professional expertise; it’s an opportunity to connect and share in the Garden experience in a unique and special way. Our board terms are three years long, in order to provide as much stability and effectiveness for the program as possible.
If you are interested in joining the Board as Treasurer, or if you have any questions about the position, please do not hesitate to reach out by responding to this email or emailing our board President, Erika White, directly at helloerikawhite@gmail.com.
Thank you for your consideration of serving The Children’s Garden in this meaningful way.
