COVID-19 Related School Closure

We have notifications of individuals in our school that have tested positive for COVID-19. Through our contract tracing protocol we have reached out to anyone who is determined to have been in close contact.

Out of an abundance of caution, we have proactively closed school through Friday, January 21 to allow time for all of our staff to be PCR tested and to receive results. We will reopen on Monday, January 24. This effectively creates a 10-day quarantine period for all students and staff so that we can safely reopen the school to all students and staff. Because we serve a largely unvaccinated student community, we feel it is important to take all precautions possible and feel it is safest for us to close while we await staff test results.

Thank you for your family’s continued partnership in keeping our community safe.

If you have questions or need to report a positive case of COVID-19, please contact Brin in the office at b.hamilton@childrensgarden.org.

COVID -19 Close Contact

Through our contact tracing protocol, we have identified and notified all families whose students have had close contact with any individual who tested positive at the school. If you did not receive a close contact email, your student is not a close contact.

Because our school is closed through Friday, January 21, if your child  was determined to be a close contact, they do not need a negative PCR test to return to school, as long as they do not develop any symptoms prior to our January 24 reopening.

However, according to CDC quarantine guidelines, any unvaccinated close contacts should quarantine for at least 5 days away from anyone outside of your household. Additionally, the CDC states that all close contacts should be PCR 5 days after exposure. Please take these quarantine guidelines into consideration for your child’s activities in the next week.

News, pictures and videos from the classrooms.

This Pandemic continues to keep us on our feet! And tests us weekly. We are so appreciative of our Board, our Health committee and our amazing Brin! To support us, keep us all on our toes and to guide us through this once in a life time (we hope) pandemic!

Our students and our teachers have had so much fun during the short time we had this week, playing with our brand new playground equipment. Thank you so much to Andrea Shull for her perseverance, presence and patience as she oversaw the installation of our playground over these last few years. The students and the staff are extremely appreciative! Thank you Andrea!

Read on for Class News!

Ladybugs

The Bugs had fun exploring the new playground equipment. We had fun playing with white play dough and made snowmen, penguin playgrounds and lots of fun snow scenes with our white dough. These bugs getting so much better at gathering at circle now, waking up our bodies and singing our closing circle song. As they get more comfortable being inside, and realizing boundaries and learning how to share toys, dress up, play food and cars and trucks, they are learning such amazing social emotional lessons and skills. We had fun working on a snowman art piece for the Art Show and ‘survived’ through a rainy day/ indoor classroom day transition. Thanks for all of your help, parents, and for your ease of our seemingly daily transition of routines. We’ve got this, Ladybugs! Thank you for all of your help and understanding.

Crickets

Oh my goodness Crickets! You guys are the rock stars of adjustment since First Winter Break! The Crickets had fun doing an art project with Teacher Brook for the Art Show. We played with white play dough in the classroom, building snowmen, making penguin playgrounds and just having fun rolling and cutting our playdough.

We enjoyed swinging on the tire swing, sending our Tonka trucks down the new slide, and making mud pies and cakes for all of us to taste. The new art easel has provided us all with so much artistic experiments and fun and the kids love painting their friends and teachers faces looking through the clear plexiglass! Thank you so much for that amazing gift!

We looked at the letter ‘M’ and loved naming things that started with M. We read a fabulous book, called ‘The Mitten’, another word that started with “M” and enjoyed acting out the story.

Honeybees

Oh my goodness, we honeybees had a blast this week! We loved exploring and discovering the new equipment on the playground, along with trying to figure out how to get up on the tire and make ourselves go.

These Honeybees were the first of our students to start riding Tonka trucks down the new slide, sending dinosaurs across the new berms, and making fun paintings on the new outdoor easel. They are bold, fun and love to experiment. They sure appreciate all of the work that went into this new playground.

In doors, the Bees, worked on a beautiful winter art piece with Teacher Brook for our Art Show, played spill the beans for the number 13, came up with tons of words that started with the letter ‘m’, (ask your Bee about M & M’s ), recited their poem from over the Holiday break, “Last Song” and started learning next week’s poem, The months of the year.

We played with white play dough and made snowmen, penguin playgrounds and had fun weaving rainbow strips through a snowman belly. We celebrated Barrett’s 5th trip around the sun and made lots of dinosaur lands and Jurassic parks in the sandbox. Another great week at The Garden! Thank you all for all of your support.
